Landmark Large Plant Marker, Engraved Two-Tone Acrylic on Solid Aluminum Stake, 5 Lines
Some plants deserve more than a label at ankle height. The citrus you planted the year you moved in. The oak you grew from an acorn. The first tree in a new orchard. I made the Landmark for plants like these. It's a large engraved marker for trees, shrubs, and orchards, with room for the full common name, the scientific name, and up to three more lines, and it stands tall enough to clear mulch and low growth.
I engrave every Landmark in my Phoenix studio on cast two-tone acrylic. My laser cuts through the top layer to show the core color underneath, so the lettering is part of the panel itself. There's no ink or paint to fade or peel in the sun. The panel is mounted on a stake cut from solid aluminum bar, 1" wide and 1/8" thick. That's wider than the 3/4" stakes most botanical gardens use, so it stays upright through wind, sprinklers, and heavy watering.
Before I engrave anything, I check the spelling and botanical format of every name. If something looks off, I'll message you first.

Standard, no extra cost: Black with white lettering.
Special order, +$1.95 per marker: Blue, Green, Red, Maroon, Orange, Purple, or Brown with white lettering, or Yellow, Almond, or White with black lettering.
Special order, +$2.95 per marker: Gold or Brushed Gold with black lettering.
I keep a sheet or two of most colors on hand. If I need to order the material for your color, it adds about 5 business days before engraving starts, so allow up to 10 business days in total. I'll message you either way once I've checked my stock.
Choose your mount
Permanent (riveted, coming soon): The panel is riveted to the stake and arrives ready to install. This is the one to pick for public gardens, campuses, and anywhere a marker should stay put.
Removable panel (+$2.95): A thumbscrew and locking nut hold the panel in place, so you can put a new panel on the same stake if a plant changes or a name needs updating. Message me any time for a quote on a replacement panel.
What to send me
Line 1: Common name (about 24 characters fit at full size)
Line 2: Scientific name, including the cultivar if it has one
Lines 3 to 5 (optional): Family, native range or where it was bred, planting year, or a short note
Example: Red Maple / Acer rubrum / Family: Sapindaceae / Native to eastern North America / Planted 2019
A planting worth remembering. Customers also use the Landmark for memorial trees, garden dedications, and milestone plantings like a retirement or a new home. A school or team color is a nice touch for a dedication tree. If you'd like help with the wording, message me and we'll work it out.
Care: Rinse with water and a soft cloth. Don't use glass cleaner, because it clouds acrylic. Push the stake straight down. In hard or rocky soil, water the spot first or open a slot with a trowel.
